I'll admit it. I love Valentine's Day. It has nothing to do with expecting anything from Brent (in fact this year I told him I'd be mad if he DID buy me a gift -- he still came through with a card and chocolates and that was plenty for me!).
But I love making it a special day to let him and the kids and our friends know that we LOVE them! The Monday before Vday, the kids spent hours making valentines for family and friends.
And one of our traditions is to heart attack the kids' bedroom doors the night before Vday.
Vday breakfast is always fun. They're excited to go downstairs and see what treats they received. Usually just a small gift of some sort. This year they each received a date card. They'll be going on a one on one date with either me or Brent in the next week or so. It's been awhile since we've done these, so hoping to get in the habit of it again!
Blake made his request for the breakfast - french toast roll-ups.
And we tried a new drink - Red Velvet Milkshakes! Yum!
Blake was cute when deciding what he wanted to do for his Valentines and box. I had him scroll through Pinterest and here's what he came up with.
Minion from Despicable Me. He did the box all by himself and was pretty proud of it!
Miss Kate handed out these cute bubble gum tubes. We attached a tag that said "I Chews You to Be My Valentine."
She had fun coming up with her own creation for a Valentine box.
And Chloe and I had fun making her Owl box.
This was the first year Hayley didn't have to make a box OR hand out Valentines (phew - one less to worry about). The 6th graders all got to go to the Renaissance Festival for a field trip and she had a blast!
We can't forget our friends and neighbors. They all got a bottle of Love Potion as our treat to them.
My favorite part of the day? Meeting Brent for lunch at Rigatony's. One on one time with my Valentine with no interruptions from the kiddos. Sure grateful to still be in love after all of these years. Married to my best friend. Doesn't get better than that!
